Auctioneer’s Comment: For over six decades our community was blessed to have George (Fred) and Bessie Klose as our farm neighbors. Here is a family that believed in the values of hard work, giving back, a positive attitude and celebrating our agricultural heritage. Whether it was Bessie’s famous lefse or her homemade pies that sold for thousands of dollars to benefit non-profits or their tireless commitment to helping the Atwater community; together they made a difference for rural concerns, family farmers, and neighbors in need–locally, across the state, and in our nation. They not only loved their community, they loved their farm. They made significant improvements to the farm over the years including improving the drainage and farmability of the parcel. With a CPI of 86+/- and 148+/- tillable acres in one tract, the farm is known by neighbors and their longtime tenant (whose contract will end with this year’s harvest) as a very high quality parcel that has produced well. The farm is nestled in an area of very accomplished farmers where land rarely comes available.
